8-28-07 Wow, this site is getting dusty. Someone's slacking/not updating! Good thing Sam Hertica isn't lazy enough at 11:17 PM to tell anyone interested a new web-look is coming soon (Matt's excuse for not updating for 4 months), and with the new look comes a commitment to update! |
4/10/07 I finally have control of the website again! I've posted updated journal entries from some of the major happenings in the last few months, and I've updated the photo gallery with two more pages of images, nome from the LA regional, and some from the SD regional. I've also gone through some pages and given them a cleaner look, and I plan on going into our forum and making it not only functional, but useful, with more organization in all the sections, andso we can post in it regularly. |

The past three days have been ones of constant stress, excitement, energy, and most of all, fun, at the 2007 San Diego Regional Competition. We finished off the competition 24th out of 46 (not bad for a first year team). (even though we'd be 16th if our gripper arm hadnt broken in the last 3 seconds of a match when we were about to drop the winning tube... but lets not dwell on that). The experience really left a mark on all of us, and I, for one, cant wait until next year. |

Today, a few members of Team 2102 went up to Los Angeles to see what a competition is like. We screamed, cheered, and most of all, observed. The members who went got a schocking Idea of how intense the FIRST experience is. We're all very excited for the San Diego Regional, but we have a lot to do. |

Today was the ship day for all the bots, and ours shipped fully functional and ready-to-go. I advise the entire team to go home and sleep (you might have forgotten what that feels like). |

Today was Team San Diego's Pre-Ship Expo at Madison High School. About 15 of us went down for it. They had a regulation size arena with the Rack 'n Roll structure set up in their gym so we could test our robot and practice driving it. Our bot worked pretty well and performed nicely to say the least. Some of the other teams' robots are impressive too. Only two more short days of building and the bots get crated and shipped; good luck to all 2007 FRC teams. You can view a video of our bot's first real test drive here. |

We finally got our forum up, and it looks great. The forum hopefully will be a great place to interact with other members of the team, and an efficient way to get information around the club. Parents, if you dont know how to use a forum, ask your kids, most of them know. Students, if you dont know, ask Matt, Asa, Alex, Nick, Sam, or Cody. |

Today we finally got the website up, and lets just say I'm proud of it. The info and contact pages are up, but the forum is still under construction. Hopefully we'll get a splash page up soon too. If you do not have Flash Player 8 or 9 installed, the navigation menu at the top will not display right. You can download flash player here. Thanks for visiting, and feel free to look around. If you have any comments about the website, contact Matt Golman |

As of today, our robot drives, and can carry around a TPR member with ease. The two stock motors pushed our bot way faster than we thought they ever would, and theyre torquey little machines too. Although our current drive system looks promising, we will be testing and evaluating others in the next week. |

Saturday was the 2007 FIRST Robotics Kick-off, almost the entire team went down to High-Tech High in SD to watch the live broadcast of the kick-off video. We watched speeches from many important people such as the FIRST founder Dean Kamen, Hawai'i Governor Linda Lingle, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, Congressman Jim Langevin, FIRST executives Woodie Flowers, John Abele, and Paul Gordons, among many other people. The 2007 Kick-off revealed to us the new game dubbed "Rack N' Roll". |
